The Monastery (Al Dier), Petra, Jordan

Just for information the bottom of the entrance is about 1.83m (6ft) from the ground.

The largest of Petra's monuments the Dier requires you to ride a donkey or walk up 800 steps to get here. The tomb is a 41 m (134.5 ft) by 50 m (164 ft) structure. This temple or tomb was clearly an important pilgrimage site, with worshippers and priests using a processional route to congregate in the open area in front of the monument. From the 4th century onwards it was used as a monastery during Christian Byzantine era when crosses were painted on its rear walls.
