Charley: “Did not!”
Diego: “The element of surprise is the only—”
Charley: *rolls eyes and talks over Diego* “Advantage I’m going to have in most altercations where an opponent is bigger and stronger than I am. I know, I know.”
Diego: *shrugs, as he drains the last of his milk* “If you know, then that makes you an even bigger dumbass for not employing that knowledge in a meaningful way. Do you want to start sparring again and work out the rust?”
Charley *face infuses with eagerness* “Yeah, that’d be great…*expression suddenly dims* but, um, I’m not sure how cool Dane would be with you and me rolling around together, albeit clothed…”
Diego: *sneers* “He wouldn’t be ‘cool’ with it at all, Bug, but if you’d rather sacrifice your ability to defend yourself from the boogiemen that you know are out there, so your boyfriend doesn’t feel uncomfortable, that’s your call.”
Charley: *crosses arms* “Unfair. You know when we spar things tend to get a little…out of hand.”
Diego: “Actually, just the opposite. The times when we spar are the times I get to experience what an enticing handful you really are…” *meets Charley’s eye with a heavy-lidded stare, ghost of a smile on his lips*
Charley: *uncrosses her arms and quickly looks away, voice low* “Um…change the subject, please.”
Diego: “Okay. Molly and I are moving out.”
Charley: *sits up straight, voice shrill* “What? I don’t want that!”
Diego: “We can’t stay here, Bug. It’s messing with Grey’s mind. I mean, Molly doesn’t have to go, but I do.”
Charley: “Molly won’t stay without you.”
Diego: *shrugs helplessly*
Charley: *suddenly on the brink of tears, before pulling it together, gruffly* “Whatever. Do what you want. I don’t care.”
Diego: “I thought you’d be relieved. Having us here has caused you some serious strife. All your new, shiny friends are speculating about us, wondering what we are to you.”
Charley (fiercely): “You’re my family. If they want to know, all they have to do is ask. I’m not ashamed of you and Molls. I’m proud.”
Diego: “Proud, huh?”
Charley: “Always. And if you’ve doubted that for one second since you got here, then you’re dumber than you look, Dingo-ling.”
Diego: *eyes alight with pleasure, though his mien stays impassive* “We’re not going back to Ohio. We’re going to stay with Bish. He lives here now. He’s got the space, so he’s cool with Molls and me bunking down.”
Charley (surprised): “I didn’t know Bishop had moved to the city. When?”
