“CCMTA, NASA/LOD, HANGAR S
Copy of artist’s conception of Nova missile.”
I’ve included the caption’s “preamble/header” to highlight this photo’s very early nature, as if reference to Nova wasn’t enough.😉 From Cape Canaveral Missile Test Annex (CCMTA), Launch Operations Directorate (LOD) of course, to even…amusingly (to me), the Hangar S reference.
Hangar S info:

In addition to being overall exquisitely awesome, note that the mobile launcher is on rails, propelled apparently by four independent locomotives at the corners. Like I said, AWESOME. Although...from this perspective, the overhead crane looks woefully inadequate & ineffectual…at least with regard to doing anything directly with/to/for the launch vehicle. 😉
Unfortunately, no signature is present. Although the time period, subject matter & cited source would suggest Don Mackey, it doesn’t have the Mackey “look” to it…to me...to include the NASA workers depicted. If I’m to believe some historical information I’ve read, it’s also before Renato Moncini’s tenure as a NASA artist. Albert Lane maybe? That is, if HE was with NASA in 1961. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Will we EVER know? Do you EVEN care? Of course NOT. Purely rhetorical question anyhow.
