fut/poss. Halley_v_c_o_TPMBK (ca. 1976/77, JPL photo no. P-16920)
Artist’s concept depicting a possible 850-by-850-meter-wide solar sail spacecraft and nearby orbiter. Despite the following, I don’t know how that would’ve fit in the payload bay.
The image is also featured by Andrew LePage, at his Drew ExMachina blog/website, with the following caption:
“An artist’s depiction of a Halley mission concept using a solar sail deployed by the Space Shuttle.”

Per a press slug associated with the image:
"When Haley's Comet returns in 1986, scientists propose to greet it with Yankee Clipper, a square sail, five city blocks on each side..."
A similar view, also with a shuttle present:

Another elegant work by Ken Hodges for JPL. I love the simple addition of the orbiter’s shadow on the sail to convey both scale & proximity.
