The large tool called a stinger or apogee kick motor capture device (ACD) allowed Gardner to achieve a hard dock with the previously stranded spinning craft. Dr. Allen is standing on a mobile foot restraint attached tandem creates a cherry picker for the in-space workers. Dr. Anna L. Fisher worked the controls from Discovery’s aft flight deck panel during this and an earlier satellite retrieval-EVA on this flight.”
