A bleary-eyed Neil Armstrong beams, safely inside Lunar Module Eagle after his and humankind’s first steps on another world.
Per the ALSJ:
"Buzz took this picture of Neil in the cabin after the completion of the EVA. Neil has his helmet off but has not yet doffed his "Snoopy" cap. The circuit breaker panels are illuminated, and a small floodlight is on at the lower right. A circuit breaker chart has been fixed up on the wall with gray tape, below the rendezvous window in the cabin roof."

UGH. This following abomination -at a now defunct site - was then propagated to Flickr (see comments section below), and who knows where else. Fortunately, some independent folks out there have taken it upon themselves to "do justice" to the image AND moment.
The write-up is at least passable this time:
"This photograph of astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, Apollo 11 commander, was taken inside the Lunar Module (LM) while the LM rested on the lunar surface. Astronauts Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr., lunar module pilot, had already completed their historic extravehicular activity (EVA) when this picture was made. Astronaut Michael Collins, command module pilot, remained with the Command and Service Modules (CSM) in lunar orbit while Armstrong and Aldrin explored the moon's surface."
It's really painful to look at:
spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/images/apollo/apollo11/html/...
And, untouched, also now available at the new(er) high-speed NASA image library. Wow:

Some of the better versions, thankfully:
