Philippine Icons Issue
Arts of Asia
September - October 1977
Vol. 7. No. 5
Pilippines Issue
Articles Include:
Maranao Art and the Aga Khan Museum
Chinese and Islamic Influences in the Philippines
Folk Heritage in Christian Jewelry
Philippine Icons
Antique Beads of the Philipppine Islands
Manila's National Costume Museum
INTERESTING FEATURE: Also of note is the editorial which discusses the archeological diggings around the church of Sta. Ana and the small museum annexed to the church displaying the finds from this excavation. When I last visited the church of Sta. Ana in 1997, all traces of the archeological excavations was gone. The people in the church office were not aware that there ever was any archeological expeditions conducted under and/or around the church edifice! And the church museum... GONE together wilth all of its contents!
Cover Photo: Descent From the Cross. Wood and polychrome. Exhibited by the Guevara Foundation at the Spanish Embassy. Autum 1976.
Note: Many of the antique images owned by the Guevara Foundation are now housed in the Museo de la Salle, a Pampanga "Bahay na Bato at Kahoy (House of Wood and Stone)" reconstructed on the campus of the de la Salle University in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
