Baltimore Nighttime Cityscape (207/365)
The Baltimore, MD skyline as seen from Federal Hill Park. The main feature seen is the Baltimore Inner Harbor just across the Patapsco River Northwest Branch. There are also views of the National Aquarium, Baltimore Trade Center, Power Plant, Colwell Center, and the high rises of Harbor East. The stadiums are just out of view on the left side.
The park sits on a large hill rising steeply from Key Highway (MD 2). The plateau is about 50 feet above the harbor, providing great panoramic views of the Baltimore downtown.
Historically, this area played an important part in the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812, and also during the Civil War when used as "Fort Federal Hill".
I took this shot one evening ater leaving a bar in Fed Hill with my coworkers. The panorama was stiched from a series of vertical images with bracketed exposures for HDR, averaging about a 5 second shutter with f/11. In total 27 frames were used in the blended image.
