Fighting for Democracy Performance
“Fighting for Democracy”, a live performance by the National Constitution Center, National Museum of American History.
Follow the real-life stories of 7 young men and women whose lives were forever changed by the events of World War II. Denied their fundamental rights, each of them, in his or her own way, chose to fight for equality, freedom, and justice overseas and at home. Their compelling stories connect powerfully to current debates about immigration, citizenship, and civil rights in America. The show features a Jewish American nurse, a Tuskegee Airman, a Japanese American internee, a Chinese American Women Air Force Service pilot, a Navajo code talker, a Filipino American infantryman, and a Mexican American medic.
