Clouds, Cube And A Bird
In the middle of Berlin, in the heart of politics, economics and culture CA Immo has realized cube berlin, inaugurated in 2020. The solitaire is located on Washingtonplatz, directly to the Berlin`s central station and Spreebogen, with a view on the german government district. The office building is part of the Europacity.
The striking ten-storey building with a width, height and length of 42.5 metres each is characterised by an inwardly folded glass façade. The façade, designed with folds and creases over its entire surface, reflects the surroundings like a kaleidoscope. In addition to their individual appearance, the folds fulfil several practical functions: they conceal small terraces on each upper floor, which are only available to the tenants. On the ground floor, around 1000 square metres of gastronomic facilities
form part of a public marketplace. The fully let area of the commercial building is 17,000 square metres.
The interior of the cube is equipped with smart technology that can also be used via a mobile app to open the underground car park barrier and the foyer. The same technology can also be used to find people in the building and the lift automatically stops on the floor where the user has their office. - A total of 3800 sensors are installed for intelligent control.
In addition, the energy generated by solar radiation is used to cool the fresh air supplied. Coated window panes reduce the heating of the interior. The architects 3XN Architects from Copenhagen and the client emphasise that the cube berlin is resource-efficient and energy-saving.
Possibly a prototype for future urban architecture !?
