This type of mill has a special mechanism, due to the innovations of Mr. Isidoro Ortega, and it is considered an absolutely new and exclusive mill topology of the Canary islands' mills.
The popularity of the 'Ortega' system was due to the simplicity of the construction and the cost savings that using materials of the area entailed. Its design was exported to the rest of the archipelago islands.
