Shaftesbury Avenue

Photo taken in September 1973.

In London's West End. We wandered up Shaftesbury Avenue looking for the Lyric Theatre, where we bought the cheapest tickets available -- at the time, about a dollar and a quarter each -- to see Alec Guinness in Alan Bennett's Habeas Corpus. (The Globe Theatre, which in this shot is showing Noel Coward's Private Lives, is now the Gielgud Theatre.)
