Macy's Christmas Tree
Earlier this evening I went to Union Square with my sister. We were not necessarily going for "Black Friday" shopping, however we were not adverse to looking around while waiting for the famous Macy's Tree lighting.
Walking around downtown in the late afternoon today simply served as a reminder as to why I do not go Black Friday shopping. It was madness ... chaos ... disorder. I did see deals ... but I did not see any outstanding deals. Maybe I was looking in the wrong places -very well possible.
The lighting ceremony was scheduled for about 6:30PM, and things ran on time for the most part. There were a couple of singing performances that started at about 6PM.
My sister and I decided to hunker down inside the Macy's building to view the lighting. Turned out to be a good decision, because we were not exposed to the elements outside. We were on the seventh floor, so we had a nice vantage point of the entire event.
Believe it or not, this is the first time I went to watch the Christmas tree lighting in Union Square. I knew a lot of people attended the viewing, but until today, I had no idea this many people attended ... there must have been thousands (many, obviously not in frame).
Yikes.
On another note ... may the holiday shopping begin!
