Gołębie - spacer z fotografią numer 1
Subtitled Pidg - photowalk number 1 for us English speakers. Naciśnij L, aby powiększyć (I'll not bother with the translation).
A shot from the inaugural Hitchin Photowalk, led by Über Flickrite Sosij... and what a grand evening it was. There will be other shots along - another series no less - once I get my sorry backside in gear to do the necessary.
I've always been a tad wary of meeting up with people who I've met online - I suspect this dates back to when the internet was all fields and populated solely by academics and assorted geeks who lurked under the hedgerows and thought it wild and crazy to say wibble - but I needn't have been atall concerned as Sharon and everyone else on the walk were perfectly wonderful.
I should point out that geek here is in the 'computer nerd' meaning rather than the 'circus performer who bites the heads off chickens' meaning.... the latter being a meaning first pointed out to me by my old and most excellent friend and fellow Flickrite Golebnik for whom this picture and pidgin Polish title are most heartily dedicated... Howard being a lover of all things Pidg and Polish.
I'll also take the opportunity to plug and recommend the music of Belvedere Mountain Express - creation of Howard and resident at, unsurprisingly, www.pigeonhouse.com. Have a listen, buy a download, enjoy his photostream.
Anyway - back at the photowalk.
After meeting in St Mary's Car Park - Private Eye readers not familiar with Hitchin may well recognise the name from the Rotten Boroughs column (latest update in the current edition) - we walked around the town sharing conversation, company and taking photographs. I've always found it so refreshing to be with fellow photographers... to watch how they work, what they do... and the presence of others always makes it easier for me to take shots openly in locations where I'd otherwise probably be more surreptitious. Sharon and I had also been exchanging Flickr comments and the occasional email for the last couple of years and it was fab to be able to meet in the flesh at last and have a decent conversation.
I'm looking forward to the Hitchin photowalk No. 2!
The shot here is from the path next to St Mary's church - two pigeons were engaged in an amorous activities, as they do, and are captured here in post-coital cigarette mode.
Aside from the raunchy content and the pidg I rather like the flare from the sun and I think that the low-level angle works rather well.
Enjoy
