Gabe

I dont find a lot of happiness in this world, but I take comfort from the whole process of portraiture, from shooting to editing and sharing. The experience of really looking deeply at another person is a humanizing experience and I think it is good medicine for everyone: for me as the photographer, for the models I work with, and for those who seriously engage with the images that come out of this process. Sitting in hopeless quarantine, not having shot anyone in an anxious and food-less month, I’ve found something that feels like a moment of peace in processing this image of Gabe today. His tears feel like my own, and I imagine his beautiful face as a tender link that could reach out and connect us, a face that could speak with quiet nobility for our sad collective moment.
