Hraunreipi - Pāhoehoe

Pāhoehoe forms on surface of very thin basalt lava, running like river. The surface solidifies to a thin rim. This rim tend to run slower than the flowing stream beneath and then it lays into these rope like folders. Here on a sandy south coast of Iceland, where the drifting sand has worn the ropes down.
