Alluvial Fans

We had fantastic views of the West on the way from Newark, NJ to Los Angeles. I think this may be the Grand Junction, CO area. EDIT: Yep! Those are the (apparently) unmistakeable Book Cliffs, which I recognized from my crosscountry drive from Colorado National Monument looking across from the mesa on the other side of the valley; the river valley below is the Grand Valley near Fruita.
