Double vision

Balcony, Krisztinavaros, Budapest, Hungary

Krisztinavaros is located on the North-Western slopes of the Caste Hill between the present-day Christine parish church and Déli Railway Station. This territory had a military role in the defense of the Buda castle so no building could be erected here until 1772 when an early lobbyist, princess Christine (Krisztina in Hungarian) convinced her mother, Maria Theresia to sell this land. Because of her role in the foundation of this settlement it's called Krisztinavaros (City of Christine or Christine Town).

First this was a rural area with meadows and orchards, but soon the mansions of the wealthy noblemen appeared here.
