Header Dam

There are several of these structures scattered throughout the park. They captured runoff in rocky canyons.

 

Built by hand, they used a minimum of cement as it was expensive and/or energy-intensive to make. The craftsmanship everywhere is superb.

 

This is one of the prettiest ones I've seen in the park, so I include a photo of it here.
