This summer I've been to Iceland again -- it was my third visit to this extraordinary country. Unfortunately during my visit there something extraordinary also happend to my camera gear. To make it short: While photographing at the "Diamond beach" near the Jökulsarlon glacier lagoon, I lost my camera, my most expensive lens and my tripod to a violent wave that crashed into them. I still had a spare camera (and even a spare tripod) with me but nevertheless I felt devastated at that time. While the vacation itself was fantastic, I will always associate it with my camera's loss. That's why it took me quite some time to have a closer look at my photos and begin processing them.

Even though I lost my camera early during the vacation, I still could recover most of my photos which I shot before since I have the habit to backup everything once a day to my Surface tablet (and if possible to Dropbox as well). This photo from the Haifoss waterfall was one of the photos I shot early on. It was my first visit to Iceland's highlands and certainly one of the highlights of our trip. I think this waterfall incorporates everything that makes Iceland so special. It's majestic, absolutely beautiful and you feel transferred into another world when visiting it. I guess something like this the early earth must have looked. And at least for a few minutes we could even watch this wonder of nature as the only persons there.

Now, after finally having posted my first photo from this year's Iceland trip, I intend to post more in the coming weeks. I will probably always have some regrets and frustration when looking back to the trip but still I want to share with you some of the highlights.
