Lion's Gate Jagannath Mandir, Puri

Jagannath Mandir is supposedly a massive temple but as a non-Hindu and a non-Indian I was not permitted to enter. The view from the Lion’s Gate, where I was unceremoniously dumped by my Hindu hosts, does not afford a view of the main hall itself. Still it was an excellent place to people-watch. It was early evening when I waited for my friends to emerge but the temple and the surrounding streets was teeming with excited pilgrims, jostling for position and creating a deafening hum.
