Stranger 493 - Anna
Anna was standing outside one of the crystals shops, on the Glastonbury High Street. I loved her orange hair but wasn’t sure about asking if she would be in my strangers project. I imagined that she was taking a Vape break, from working in the shop. I walked past her at least twice before deciding that it would be silly not to ask her.
Anna responded very positively to my request. She thought that the idea of meeting people and photographing them was really good. This made me smile as my previous two subjects had not been at all enthusiastic, when I had approached them.
When I asked if there was anything she would like to tell me about herself, Anna told me that she is writing a novel. It is a fantasy. She admitted that she has thousands of words in Lore (the body of knowledge and traditions on which the fantasy is built) but only two chapters of story.
Anna also runs a Careers Consultancy. Rising Sun Careers Consultancy provides pick-and-mix solutions, where businesses and candidates only pay for what they need. There is a Facebook link at the website www.risingsuncareers.com. It sounds like a socially conscious/community friendly organisation.
When I mentioned that it had been Anna’s hair that drew me to her, she told me that there were many with ginger hair in her family but that her natural colour was more of a mousey brown.
Anna was patient with me and let me make quite a few portraits. It was a shame that she was on a short break, as it would have been good to find somewhere with a better backdrop or somewhere that I could take a seated photo.
When it was time for Anna to get back to work, we exchanged words of thanks and goodbyes. Anna was very pleased that I would send her photos that she would be able to use for her business.
