The polyglots
The best part of Paris is getting lost in its endless side paths and back roads. I discovered this stunning couple wile walking through a park to escape the crowds of the Latin Quarter. They astounded me. I asked timidly, in French, if either spoke English. The man replied, "Of course."
Born and raised in France, they both spoke spectacular English. They commended me for both my daring and politeness in asking to take a picture. Apparently, since they read in that spot every afternoon, tourists find creative ways to secretly photograph them -- but they always see the tourists, and they consider it rude.
I have learned it is almost always better to ask a subject to take his picture.
