Tree
Deep snow in the river bed of the Lathkill. The slanting line on left hillside is a lead mine rake, there is an open shaft close to the top. Although of natural beauty, not all of Lathkill Dale is natural, and in several places the river has been diverted for the mining. About a mile up from Over Haddon it is possible to descend a shaft below Bateman's Cottage on a well constructed ladder. There is a hand powered generator at the bottom that provides power to illuminate the mine-shaft. Well worth a visit for all ages!
