Crenelated Chrome
Fearing a curtailment in activities I ventured north for what could be a last visit for quite some while.
I guessed that there wouldn't be too many people wandering around on the limestone pavements above Dowal Dale at sunrise so I could socially distance myself. I was correct, but I could still see a gaggle of photographers on Chrome waiting for sunrise, and Hartington and Monyash were bustling; suggesting that most people think that social distancing is a group activity. Unless people wake up to the risk, this could be out of bounds for the next 3 months at least. There's plenty of locations to visit in the Peak District where you can be away from the crowds.
I walked around Chrome Hill from Earl Sterndale and passed only two walkers. The forecast was 100% wrong - we had about 30 minutes of sunrise at dawn; where the wall to wall sunshine went perhaps the BBC can tell us (the website was still showing it at midday!)
