Castle Peak Northeast Ridge

by andrew davidoff

On sat 2015-10-31 I attempted Castle Peak's Northeast Ridge. Although it's still early winter, this definitely counts as a winter hike, and was probably the 2nd toughest hike I have done.

I didn't summit due to concerns over the safety of the route, but I got close. The summit is at 14,265' and I made it to ~13,850' from ~10,200'. It was really gusty (maybe 30mph on the ridge) which was a factor, too. 10mi in ~10.5hr RT.

Some of the pictures are square because I accidentally set my iPhone in square mode.

I wish I could say I made the summit, but it was a great challenge and a great day.
