Lesser Violetear
Lesser Violetear (Colibri cyanotus) is medium sized hummingbird, locally common in montane forest borders, clearings and pastures with trees in regions of southern Central America and of South America, from Costa Rica south to northern Argentina, and east to the coastal mountains of northern Venezuela. Males often sing (surprisingly loud) near to one another, however, but do not form true leks. At the global level the conservation status of Lesser Violetear is rated as Least Concern (BirdLife International 2011).
