Banded dotterel (Charadrius bicinctus) is the most common small plover of New Zealand seashores, estuaries and riverbeds. The population is declining. The key factors are introduced mammalian predators which prey on most eggs that are laid and many chicks, juveniles and adults, also loss habitat and human activities. Conservation status is Nationally Vulnerable
