Got my hands on a dried collection specimen of Pachyrhynchus aff. purpureus (weevil ca. 15mm long, Coleoptera, Curculionidae; the Phillipines, exact date & location unknown).

 

Studio work, dried specimen was prepared and staged on an orchid pseudobulb.

Focus stack based on 140 images, assembled in Zerene Stacker (Dmap & Pmax), not cropped.

Canon 5Dmkii, Canon MP-E 65mm at 1.8x, ISO-100, f/5, 1/13s, -0.7step, tracing paper diffused daylight, supplemented with a strong daylight LED.
