Light as a Feather- Triumph is near

I apologize to my Flickr friends for a long absence. What started out as photographing these Eagles at Anclote has now turned into a mission to save their nest. For the first time in a week, I feel optimistic about the future of this pair and their nest. Last week I was invited to the release of Eagle 512

Some of you might have read her story on Burdr.com. Her nest is just a few miles from my house and I have been checking every few days to make sure she hasn't returned.

At this release I was fortunate to meet David of Progress Energy (the company that owns the property that "my" eagles are on). He accepted my invitation to meet at the nest yesterday, he stayed for three hours (Eagle watching can be very captivating). We are working on a creative solution that would be implemented after nesting season is over. I am very hopeful that many more people will have the chance to see their first Bald eagles here at Anclote in Florida just as I did......

Stay tuned - I am not giving up!!

Update march 10th - visual deterrents were installed on the power lines and caps put up on the utility poles too, making this a safer environment for the Anclote Eagles - thanks to Progress energy for following through on their promise!
