176/365. Hey Now, You're An All Star (Do read the description)
All Star by Smash Mouth happens to be one of my favourite yesteryear song. Brings back a lot of good memories. Carefree times!
The good old audio cassette times. When you can 'touch' the music. Literally touch it with your hands. Holding the tape case between your fingers gives you such a high. Something you can never really experience with 'digital' audio.
The feeling you get when you 'touch' the music. You can smell it. Look at all the pictures on the tape jacket. The broken glass case. The ripped paper. Pouring into the lyrics for hours. Reading the fine print on the insides.
Now, that made music special. Digitalisation has rendered things easy - no doubts about that. But with it we have lost so much. The fun and excitement of getting your hands on a new tape. Exchanging those cassettes. Making copies of the best songs. Mixed tapes. That was the heart and soul of music if you ask me. The effort that went into 'listening' to that music. That made it special. No doubt I remember all the songs I heard on tape inside out.
I might be sounding non-progressive but I really wish that time back. When you talked in terms of 'minutes' of music on a tape and not about 'MBs and GBs' and 'bit rate'.
Now that's music. What do you think?
