2009-06-23aa+ab Carna's Eastern view - panoramic stitch
The view to the East from the top of Càrna's "mountain", near Glenborrowdale, Ardnamurchan, in the Scotland's Inner Hebrides. The view takes in the houses on the Southern shore, and across the water, the slopes of Monadh Rahuaidh, and to the East the winding waters of Loch Sunart.
Though once occupied by 18 families, Càrna now has no permenant residences, and two of the three houses set on the East-South-East face are holiday homes. It does however have a large population of ravenous midges and ticks, and a somewhat less ferocious sheep population. The top of the 'mountain' (height >170m) takes about 30-40 minutes to reach fom the houses, though 20-25 mins is possible at a good pace. It is also the closest point on the island with mobile phone signal.
Shot with my Nikon D40, fitted with a Nikkor AFS DX 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6G II lens, stiched together in Microsoft ICE, and processed in GIMP and Photoscape.
