Metropol Parasol, Seville

This astonishing construction in the heart of old Seville was recently completed after several years under construction. The work of German architect Jurgen Mayer-Hermann these dramatic, sweeping organic forms of wooden latticework dominate the Plaza Encarnacion (known locally as the Encrnacion Mushrooms).

Beneath the span of the structure the lowest section contains the Roman and Moorish archaeolgical remains found on the site, whilst above at ground level is a market. The upper sections contain both a restaurant and observation platform.
