ever wondered why we (graphic designers) take so much time doing stuff that look so obviously well placed?

 

that's why! of course i know a couple of folks that work brilliantly without grids and proportion systems, like victor (/magentaschwarz), but the fact that grids are a basic part of graphic design is undeniable.
