The Center for American Progress and the Progressive Book Club launched "Moving Forward: Foundations of a New Progressive Era," a new authors series that will bring together leading writers and policy experts in an in-person and online discussion forum for Americans to learn, connect, and debate progressive ideas.
The first event in the series featured historian Kevin Mattson, author of "'What the Heck Are You Up To, Mr. President?' Jimmy Carter, America's 'Malaise' And the Speech That Should Have Changed the Country." Governor Howard Dean, senior advisor and chairman of the Progressive Book Club, introduced the event; James Fallows, correspondent for "The Atlantic" and former chief White House speechwriter for Jimmy Carter, spoke; and John Halpin and Ruy Teixeira, senior fellows at CAP moderated.
