9.52 - wonderland.
so she sat on, with closed eyes, and half believed herself in Wonderland, though she knew she had but to open them again, and all would change to dull reality
in 2004 (or late 2003, TT correct me on dates, please!) when i was in year 8 and the shortest girl in the school, i was chosen (for the single reason that i hardly reached a sixth former's waist) to play the dormouse in alice in wonderland. i did handstands in a mouse costume in an invisible teapot. i sang twinkletwinkle while i was asleep. and i learned the words for the mad tea party inside out.
"you might just as well say...that i breathe when i sleep, is the same thing as i sleep when i breathe..."
"it IS the same thing with you..."
that year was the beginning of so many things...amazing times with my BFF, so many memories, leaping up to touch the corridor ceilings in the dark before dress rehearsal, being so excited we couldn't speak, lying on the chessboard after the battle scene with red lights, lighting breaking, the dance at the beginning...
i love alice in wonderland.
and i am so excited to see tim burton and johnny depp's new version of it.
as long as it doesn't fall too far short of my hopes :)
