impromptu performance
We attended a small afternoon party to celebrate a close friend’s significant birthday. Among the 5 men in attendance, all had distant Mediterranean roots, and three were born in Argentina. All of us dance tango, one of us is a professional tango musician with published recordings under his belt. He brought along his bandoneon and took it out during our convivial lunch and played the marvelously mournful tune ‘Malena’ for us. Amazing intimacy to sit 3 feet away from the musician and his instrument
