Day 313/365 ~ A House Without Books is Like a Room Without Windows

March 26, 2012.

Best friend

I am very fond of libraries. Shelves full of books; hardcovers, paperbacks, journals, manuals, words, magic - spilling off the sides, wedged tightly together, stacked up without much care. Creaky carts being wheeled down the aisles with more books waiting to be returned to their respective homes. The sound of pages being ruffled and turned, the smell of old books, the hopeful and anticipatory feeling you get when your fingers close upon a book you've never read before, but heard so much about. The library is a place where you can spend the whole afternoon in and stumble out feeling like you've managed to live another life in the span of a few hours. Words and so much rich knowledge all hidden among pages just waiting patiently to be turned; new worlds and revelations typed painstakingly in black ink upon crinkled, yellowing sheets of paper; thoughts and ideas, all kept tightly shut within their leather covers.
