Steel Dragon
Steel Dragon 2000 (スチールドラゴン2000 ) is a roller coaster at Nagashima Spa Land amusement park in Mie Prefecture, Japan. This gigacoaster opened, appropriately, in 2000—"The Year of the Dragon" in Asia. It debuted only months after Millennium Force at Cedar Point, and surpassed that as the world's tallest complete-circuit coaster. It took the record for the longest track length—8,133 feet 2 inches (2,478.99 m)—which it currently holds.
The building of Steel Dragon 2000 required far more steel than other coasters for earthquake protection. This put the cost of the coaster at over $50 million. Unfortunately, the multi-million dollar price increase to manufacture the ride, due to the large amount of steel required to build the ride effectively put Morgan (the builder) out of business and they were later sold to Chance Manufacturing.

Yet another photo from Nagoya, as this is where we'll be calling home from now on, so expect many more pics from this wonderful city.
Took the boys to Nagashima Land again last Saturday for another wonderful day full of lots of rides. Typical waiting time: the time it took them to run from the exit back to the entrance to jump back on for the next ride ;-) Sure as heck beats the 2hr average wait time at Tokyo Disneyland! They understandably like going here heaps more than Disneyland!
Once again want to apologize for not getting the chance to catch up on everyone's great photostreams these past 2 months, but I continue to be most preoccupied with the logistics of our family making the move to Nagoya. I figure another month or two before I'm settled down enough.
Thanks...Altus.
