“I am the Light”, cried out the Lamp which hung upon the Post

“Come unto me throughout the night”, so gathered forest host

 

“I am wisdom; I have might, see me brightly shine.

The power to dispel all shadows of the night is mine”

 

Proudly he shone all through the night, till morning light had come

When swiftly, spreading, steadily arose His Majesty, the Sun

 

With warmth and light he scattered night, unto the uttermost

Who is this Lamp, then said the Sun, which hangs upon the Post?

What of this incandescent bulb that makes such mighty boast?

 

Then humbly bowing, with trembling voice, said Lamp to mighty Orb,

Forgive me for my foolishness, my Master, and my Lord!
