Giant Swallowtail (Papilio cresphontes)

On a day when the heat index was about 104 degrees, Allen (asparks306), Mike (FlyFisherMike), Nancy and I braved the temps to chase Giant Swallowtails in a field at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center. Naturally, a few water breaks were taken.

These were enjoying the wild Bergamot and not touching the Blazing Star (Liatris) on this occasion. This is one of the most abundant crops of this species we have noticed in years.
