Day 270: Still Not Asking For It

“On January 24th, 2011, a representative of the Toronto Police gave shocking insight into the Force’s view of sexual assault by stating: “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized”.

So to protest against that sort of crap, a group of people decided to start the Slut Walk, in which a bunch of girls dress all sexy-like to protest the culture of assigning any blame to victims of rape (i.e., saying "she was asking for it" or "What did you expect, dressing like that?"). I am strongly in favor of this protest, because I want women everywhere to feel safe and comfortable wearing very little clothing.

One of my goals at this event was to not be the creepiest guy there taking pictures. So I made sure I had permission before taking a picture of anyone, didn't lurk in the shadows, and used my normal normal lens rather than creeping from across the street with a tele. I think I succeeded. There was at least one dude there who was way creepier than I was, just sort of piggybacking off of the other people taking pictures to make his own little snaps whenever someone posed for someone else, with a crappy little point & shoot camera that looked like it was from about 1998.
