If you look very closely, you'll see that the owners of this Victorian artisans' dwelling in the Roath Park area of Cardiff have magically transformed the look of their property by extending the uPVC to protrude beyond the windows themselves. Practically imperceptible to the non-expert eye, but effective nonetheless.
