One world!!! One dream!!!
Op dit moment vind de World Jamboree in Zweden plaats. Een evenement met scouts vanuit de hele wereld (39.000 people), elkaar leren kennen, elkaars gewoontes leren kennen, met elkaar kletsen. Soms gaan die gesprekken heel erg diep.
Dit jaar is onze jongste zoon bij de World Jamboree, 4 jaar geleden was onze oudste zoon erbij in Engeland.
Van onze oudste zoon kregen we naderhand te horen dat hij een gesprek had gehad met een Irakese jongen van zijn eigen leeftijd, ze hadden het over wat ze later wilden worden, ze wilden allebei het leger in. Ze kwamen tot de conclusie dat ze tijdens een oorlog weleens tegenover elkaar zouden kunnen komen te staan…. Beiden kwamen ze tot de conclusie dat dit niet was wat zij wilden!
Hij kwam terug van dit evenement als een mens dat begrip heeft voor anderen, die zich kan verplaatsen in verschillende culturen. Ik weet zeker dat onze jongste ook terugkomt met deze opvattingen.
Wij hebben onze zoons geleerd om respect te hebben voor anderen, om niet te discrimineren, om respect te hebben voor andere overtuigingen, voor andere levenswijzen en voor meningen van anderen. Het meemaken van de World Jamboree heeft daar ook bij geholpen. Vandaar ook als eerste comment een foto van dit geweldige evenement.

At this moment the World Jamboree event is in Sweden. An event with scouts from all around the world (39.000 people), get to know each other's habits, have a chat with each other. Sometimes those conversations go very deep.
This year our youngest son is present at the World Jamboree, four years ago, our oldest son was in England with the same event.
Of our oldest son, we were later told, he had a conversation with an Iraqi boy his own age, they were talking about what they would be later (occupation), they both wanted to join the army. They came to the conclusion that during a war, sometimes against each other would be faced .... They both came to the conclusion that this was not what they wanted!
He came back from this event as a man that understands others, which can move in different cultures. I'm sure our youngest also features with these views.
We have taught our sons to have respect for others, not to discriminate, to have respect for other beliefs, other lifestyles and opinions of others. Experiencing the World Jamboree there has also helped. Hence also the first to comment a picture of this great event.
