our funky little terrace house. it's a bit tatty, but in an appealing way (to me, at least), and it's smack in the middle of Newtown -- in my opinion the freakiest-yet-homeyest neighborhood in Sydney (tho the competition is rather stiff for this title). lots of second-hand bookstores, independent and funky coffeehouses, offbeat parentals, friendly punks, gay chemists, Japanese metalheads, parks, oldies with attitude, tiny Greek grandmothers, plenty of art stores but few chainstores -- most everything a person needs in a neighborhood, really.
