Place Boniface

Brussels, Belgium.

It was night. E and I were walking a route that we hypothesized would cross a gap in our maps, from a neighborhood we had visited for its art nouveau buildings to the EU quarter, where our hotel was located. As we walked, dark, quiet neighborhoods alternated with areas of commercial activity.

We stopped for pictures in a plaza headed by a church and a statue, shown in part here. The t-intersection was flanked by brightly-lit cafes where locals were having dinner or coffee.

We continued onward, and five minutes later we were back on the map.
