Tree Stuck on Red
Dunollie Castle grounds, near Oban, Scotland.
It was late spring when I first visited Oban, toward the end of a road trip across the Highlands. I saw (at least in a nominal sense) a personal record of five new-to-me castles in one day: Castle Stalker, Dunstaffnage Castle, Dunollie Castle, Kilchurn Castle, and Dochart Castle. Not included in that list is Edinburgh Castle, which I saw as always from a window in my flat that evening.
This tree on the grounds of Dunollie Castle appeared to be stuck on red. The greenness of the surrounding trees and grounds made it seem more peculiar, like a stuck pixel on a display, except beautiful rather than irritating. The castle grounds closed soon after I arrived, and I left without being able to investigate further.
