Scarf Joint Router Jig
How to scarf the ends to make 16' pieces? The manual suggests a block plane, but I had time to be a little more precise. Jig is made from scrap 3/4" plywood. Router is screwed to wood router mount. Jig was made to accept four 11" wide 8' long blanks. Blanks are offset 1.25" as shown in right corner of photo. Blanks are clamped to work table and to jig. 3/4' double flute straight router bit is GRADUALLY lowered with each successive pass of the router across the blank ends (it's like cutting the grass). After several passes you will have perfectly straight feathered joints that glue up like a charm.
