Blurring Background Tutorial

Although there are many tutorials on the internet. I thought I'd make this simple one because this question seems to be oft asked.

 

Also if you notice any mistakes in this one please let me know. I used to know how to spell. Spell checkers have ruined spelling forever now, I'm afraid.

 

If you're interested, I did this with the ComicLife program on a iMac.

 

NOTE: I used Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur here for expedience, but Lens Blur may may it more realistic.
