The Mehrangarh Fort stands on a perpendicular cliff, four hundred feet above the sky line of Jodhpur. Burnished red sandstone, imposing, invincible and yet with a strange haunting beauty that beckons.
Also called the Citadel of the Sun, for truly, it's one of the most impressive forts in all Rajasthan. Inside its walls are several palaces with incredibly intricate carvings and expansive courtyards. The museums inside are some of the most well-stocked in Rajasthan, including the amazing Mahadol palanquin and the famous Kilkila cannon. You'll need more than one visit to truly appreciate all of its grandeur!
